Meet Corey Fuchs from The Rock Star's Wife Series
Corey Fuchs is Cassandra‘s boyfriend at the University of Illinois, starting in May 2000. When she goes home for summer break, they continue their courtship via telephone.
Born in 1974 in Bloomington, IL, Corey is a tall bottle blond with spiked hair, tattoos and piercings in his ears and nose.
His father died in Vietnam in 1975 and never met him. He was raised by his stepfather Jerry who was friends with Corey’s father.
His overbearing mother, Carolyn, wishes he had a normal hairstyle, would remove his piercings and laser away his tattoos, and get married. His stepdad agrees, but keeps his opinions to himself.
Corey has two half siblings: Ben, who is married to Beth, and Madelaine, a high school senior. He also has a step-sister, Melody, who is married to Jacob and has a baby.
Corey doesn’t want children. One of his favorite foods is Chinese, his favorite ice cream is blueberry, and his favorite game is Scrabble because of the vocabulary skills and word combinations.
High School Years
In high school, Corey was in the Honors Society with his friend Neil, on the debate team, and a number of other extra curriculars. The friends were outcasts from society because they loved poetry and music with dark lyrics.
When Neil and Corey started showing an interest in girls, they made up a list of rules. Most of them were silly, but they were immature and didn’t know any better. Rule number one still stands. Never volunteer information to your parents.
Corey lost virginity with his first girlfriend, a goth girl who wore black lipstick, wished she was a vampire and pretended she was a corpse during sex. He had sex with seven other women and was single about four months before he met Cassandra.
He is obsessed with Edgar Allan Poe and has many Poe inspired tattoos. They include Poe’s face, a raven, Lenore, a black cat, the House of Usher, the Red Death, the Tell-Tale Heart, the Pit and Pendulum, Rue Morgue and lines of poetry. Corey got his first tattoo when he was 18.
College Years
Corey is studying to become an American Literature professor. He will finish his Ph.D. in 2007. During the summer, he tutors kids in English and substitute teaches during the school year for Champaign Unit 4 School District.
Corey and Cassie
Corey and Cassie have instant chemistry. However, since their goals are pulling them in different directions, he suggests they live in the moment. The strategy works until they fall in love.
Corey is hesitant to tell Cassie how he feels, knowing their relationship has a set end date, but he travels to Sterling for Christmas 2000 to give her a necklace and confess his feelings. He rejects Cassie’s multiple suggestions that they pursue a long-distance, or that he follow her to Lake County, and the couple breaks up in Spring 2001.
After Cassie
In 2016, Corey’s married to a women he met at a tattoo convention. They have two children.
He works at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.
