Spiros was born in 1922. A heavy smoker, he is diagnosed with lung cancer in the early 1990s and lived longer than expected. He died in January 1996.
Olympia’s birth year is never mentioned. She is diagnosed with MS in the early 1990s and eventually is confined mostly to a wheelchair. She died in June 1997.
They are the parents of Daria, Ilena, Yannis and Nani. Daria and Ilena took turns as caretakers.
